Yoga I
Students
will be introduced to the art of yoga. Breath, focus and body alignment
will be emphasized as the students begin this class. Modifications
will be offered so that the individual will feel knowledgeable and confident
moving through the class.
Yoga I/II
This class will be a continuation of what students learn in Yoga I. An understanding of the practice is important to fully and safely explore the more challenging asanas in this class.
Yoga II
The
student will be challenged in this class as the asanas begin to build on what the students learned previously in Yoga I and I/II. The transitions begin to flow with more fluidity and precision,
increasing heat, heart rate, strength, balance and flexibility. Prior
yoga experience is necessary in this more challenging class.
Ashtanga Prep
(Level 2) A vinyasa (flow) sequence based on selected poses of
the Ashtanga series, including some of the more challenging positions of
the practice, intended to prepare students for the full primary series. Drop-ins
are welcome, however, some prior yoga experience is preferable as the rigor
of the class may be overwhelming for first-time students. Please inquire
if you are interested in enrolling in an “Intro to Ashtanga” course
intended for beginners.
Led Ashtanga Primary Series:
(Level
3) An instructed class of the full primary series practice
as inspired by the teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Please contact
the instructor prior to enrolling unless you are already familiar with
and comfortable practicing the Ashtanga system. Prior experience
is required.
Yoga (Vinyasa)
The intermediate class will focus on solidifying
a safe vinyasa practice. The
student will learn how to move safely into and out of postures while
connecting that movement with breath. The instructor will discuss detailed
information about individual postures, including style variations, benefits,
and modifications for injures. Students of all ages and physical types
with at least a year of yoga experience are welcome.
Pilates I
Designed
for the beginner, this class provides the student with the knowledge
to perform the exercises with control and precision as well as an understanding
of how each exercise is designed to target certain muscle groups.
The
Essential class moves at a pace that will keep the beginner confident yet
challenged.
Pilates I/II
This
class is appropriate for the individual who has had some Pilates experience. The
class moves at a quicker pace but still emphasizes proper technique and
an understanding of the Pilates principles in order to get the benefits
out of the exercises.
Pilates II
A
firm understanding of the Pilates principals is necessary in order to
register for this class. Individuals in the Intermediate level
are guided through the more challenging exercises and it is assumed that
each student has a string awareness of how his or her body moves and
how to modify the more challenging exercises to get the most of out of
them.
Pilates II/III
This
class moves at a quick and challenging pace and is geared toward the
student who has had the appropriate amount of Pilates training, stamina
and strength to apply proper technique to the exercises.
Fusion
This
class provides the student with a Pilates mat challenge that will focus
on strengthening and conditioning the core muscles and getting sufficiently
warmed up and centered. The second part of the class provides the
student with a flowing yoga series of exercises that will encourage gentle
yet deep stretching and control. Modifications, Pilates principles
and inward focus will help each individual get the most out of this class.
Nia
In this mind-body-spirit fitness class, students will be introduced to
the art of expressive movement through Nia. Students will achieve physical,
mental, emotional and spiritual well-being as they fall in love with
being and moving in her or his own body. "Life lived in a body
the Nia way is life lived in relationship to the sacred geometry of

Prenatal Yoga
Designed
for the expecting mother (and taught by a mother of two), this class
offers a safe and effective practice to strengthen and gently stretch,
helping to keep the students feeling strong and confident about their
changing bodies during pregnancy. Even more importantly, moms to be
will connect more deeply to their babies on a physical, emotional and
spiritual level. Modifications are offered for each trimester.
Girl's Teen Yoga (ages 13-17)
Yoga for girls is a fun paced class that will take the girls on an exciting
journey that has many benefits and surprises. Here are some of the
pluses! Mental: It can improve concentration, memory, attention and
stimulate creativity. Physical: Improves strength, flexibility and
balance, improves muscle tone, stamina and circulation and lowers fat,
blood pressure and heart rate. Spiritual: Yoga creates a sense of well-being
and calm, reduces depression anxiety and anger and increases confidence,
self-acceptance and self-discipline.
Kids' Yoga (ages 7-11)
Kids are natural yogis, inatetly curious and full of joy. In our kids yoga class we have fun with poses like frog, cobra, eagle, crow, tree, mountain and the wheel. Story telling, games, relaxation and guided meditation will help kids gain physical understanding and control over their own bodies, and also gain a deeper understanding of their place in the world...while having a great time!
Stretch and Relax
Release
tension from the body and the mind. This one hour class will utilize
stretching and meditation exercises borrowed from Yoga, modern dance
techniques, and traditional sports medicine. Increase your focus
and flexibility while helping to prevent stress related illness and injury. Appropriate
for all levels of fitness and ability.
