Registration and Class-Packs: We offer individual classes plus 5, 10, and 20 class-packs and a 1-month unlimited pass for your convenience with a special discount available for students and seniors (age 65 and over.) We also have memberships available which is more economic if you plan to come more often (see below.) No pre-registration necessary to take a class, though we highly recommend it. You can also just drop in 10-15 minutes early to get acquainted with the studio. However, registering for classes online before you come in gives the student a certain guarantee and holds your spot in class. If paying online isn’t your thing, we also accept checks made out to: The Center. They can be mailed along with a registration form to: 217 S. Liberty Street, Suite 201 Harrisonburg, VA 22801. We also take cash and Credit Card the studio. We do not accept payment over they phone. Payment in full must be made at the time of registration, and can be handed to the instructor or to another staff member. **Class passes and memberships cannot be shared between friends and family members.
Memberships: Some of you find that taking 3, 4, or more classes per week really makes a difference. For you, we have memberships! We have both monthly memberships (automatically withdraws your membership fee each month), and we have an annual prepay. The price per class goes way down the more often you take class. It can be a really wonderful deal and be pretty life changing! If this sounds like a perfect choice for you, be sure to read the details on our memberships. Arrival and Studio Etiquette: PLEASE BE ON TIME and make every attempt to arrive to class 5-10 minutes early (NEW STUDENTS should plan to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a new student profile form.) Shoes may be left outside the main doors or in the lobby. Once inside, please turn cell phones off and help keep the volume down. If there is another class in session, they well may be in savasana or meditating and need the volume to be low and voices quiet. We appreciate your understanding.
If You are Late: It happens sometimes. We just can’t always control it. If your Yoga class has already begun, we just ask that you stay in the waiting area until the centering is over so as not to disturb other students. If you are more than 10-minutes late, it is up to the instructor’s discretion whether or not it is ok to begin class late. Sometimes an essential warm-up may have been missed.
Mats and Props: Mats and props are available, but we strongly recommend owning your own mat. If you need some suggestions on what to get, we are happy to recommend some to you. (We may even have one that suits your needs in our retail space.) Not only is that a more hygienic option to have your own mat, you’re more likely to enhance your yoga practice at home!
Heated Yoga and Power Yoga: Heated or Warm Yoga and Power Yoga are heated to 80 degrees. Please bring your own mat and towel to these classes and a water bottle. For your comfort, refrain from eating a large meal for at least 2 hours before class begins.
Clothing, Perfumes, and Other Things to Know Before Coming: Be ready to practice barefoot. Wear comfortable and stretchy clothes (and avoid eating a large meal for at least 2-hours before class!) No strong perfumes, essential oils, or strong body odor, please. You are welcome to bring a water bottle into the studio.
Physical Limitations or Pregnancy: If you have a heart condition or any other serious ailment, physical limitation or are pregnant, please make sure to let your instructor know BEFORE class begins. It may be necessary to get an ok from your physician before starting on a new exercise routine.
Parking & Finding Us: You are welcome to park across Liberty Street in the municipal lot (where the Farmer’s Market is every Tuesday and Saturday mornings.) Parking is also available in the Ice House lot on Bruce Street (be sure to not park in JMU’s section) and in the Water Street Parking Deck. We are in the large Ice House Building, home to Pale Fire Brewing, Rocktown Kitchen, Boboko Cafe, and Black Sheep Coffee.
Please take your mat home with you. We don’t have room for everyone to leave their mat at the studio. We are delighted that you feel comfortable enough to leave it at The Center, however, and happy to know you feel that at home and comfortable with us <3.
Children & Families: Adult classes are intended for students 16 years and older. If you’d like to attend adult classes with your child, you must ask permission specifically from the class instructor at least 24 hours IN ADVANCE. It is then the teacher’s discretion to allow a minor into an adult class. With the consent of that teacher, younger students may attend adult classes, unaccompanied by an adult. Family Yoga is always open to any age child(ren) and to all members of the family.
Class Cancellations: Due to inclement weather and other unforeseen circumstances, we occasionally have to cancel a class or workshop. Please make sure to check our website or FB page for notices on cancelations or call our phone number: 540.383.0438.
Refunds and Pass Extensions: All purchases and class passes are non-refundable and non-transferable except under certain circumstances. We only extend the expiration date of a class pass under certain circumstances – an extended illness, a sudden family emergency that takes you out of town, etc. Unfortunately, we cannot extend them due to vacations, a busy schedule, or a business trip. The class passes are discounted from our regular drop-in rate and given an expiration date to encourage you to come to classes. We know you’ll feel better if you do! Thanks for your understanding. Workshop and Master Class Refunds must be requested at least 24 hours before the start of the workshop, and are subject to a 20% admin fee. No refunds are available within 24 hours of a workshop. Thank you for your understanding.
