with Grayson Pritchard
Thursdays, January 14-March 3, 2016
This *eight week course will explore the foundations of Liang style Bāguàzhăng (bah gwa zhong). The first half of each class will involve thorough “self-investigation”, with moments of meditative qigong breathing and movements, evolving into dynamic joint mobilization and exploration of balance (internal and external). Partner practice, drills, and the quintessential bagua ‘circle walking’ forms will all be covered.
This unique system has been long revered in the East as a powerful healing modality, providing the practitioner with a multitude of benefits including improved balance, strength, and coordination, as well as increased immune function (not to mention a solid framework for self defense). It starts at six a.m. and ends at 7:30, and makes for an excellent start to your day. Wear clothes you can move freely in. We generally practice barefoot, or you can wear indoor shoes.
Your mind and body will be challenged. Your spirit will be lifted.
